In this paper, we introduce PatentCity, a novel dataset on the location and nature of patentees from the 19<em>th<\/em>\u00a0century using information derived from an automated extraction of relevant information from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/computer-science\/patent-document\">patent documents<\/a>\u00a0published by the German, French, British and US\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/social-sciences\/intellectual-property\">Intellectual Property<\/a>\u00a0offices.
